REPRESENTATIVE COUNCIL MEETING
DECEMBER 1, 2014

I.    Dates
  A. Board Meeting on Monday, December 8 will be attended by Vera, Melanie, Alice and Anne.
               a.  Added post-meeting:  Kim Lewis will be moving out of President position to Member position at this meeting.  All members encouraged to attend to show gratitude for the extraordinary support from Kim in negotiating our current contract.

  B. Board Meeting sign-up sheet for 2015 will be circulated.    
   
  C. United Way Presentation on Tuesday, January 27 from 7 – 8:30 pm for parents
United Way Presentation on Wednesday, January 28 during Block B in HS
The IH Foundation is providing and publicizing this.
               a.  Millennial will be the topic
               b.  Foundation has maney to spend …what are the needs?

II.   Financial Report  (Janine) - Freking & Betz costs from Insurance consultation

III.  Orange Financial
a.     Brad Cunningham, teacher in Florida; started a company to educate about finances.
a.     Class offered, 3 one hour courses
b.     Fee:  $50.  IHEPO partial subsidy?
c.      Not all about investing, includes debt, insurance, credit card info
Proceed?  Email “are you interested?”  if enough interested, we could host a series
Cover cost or a portion of cost?
Include spouses?
b.     Anne Kuhn’s brother, also a financial planner…possible workshop
c.        Create a resource (on blog) sharing contacts for financial planning
a.     Good path to follow at this point
b.     Send contacts to Anne to contribute to the master list.

V.   Brainstorm ideas on how to promote the successes and strengths of IHEPO.
We need to think about gaining and retaining membership for next year.
      a.   Strong organization provides strong salary schedule
      b.   Enhancing professional standing…contributions to the field
      c.   Additional communication meetings…state of the organization address
                   Feb. PD day Organization breakfast?  Renewed Dot Day?
      d.   Investigate calendar for additional PD days.  Explore the impact of switch from days to hours of contact…what does that mean for the contract?  Where does that create opportunity?
      e.  Include our name on district decision communications in which we have played a role.

V.   Concerns from Buildings
      a.  Terry:  keeping up with the political climate of education?
           -periodic email alerting to the IHEPO blog for links to         
     
      b.  Homework:  what would be the issues on the Dot Day? 
                   -Include focus on improving the learning environment for students?
                   -What would make your work powerful?  Efficient?
