a.
Question to J. Concannon about need to
notify SERB about Council changes, waiting on response.
IV. Does IHEPO need a website? (Tom)
a.
Shared Teacher drive could work.
b.
Blog is enough.
V. How to proceed with Dot Day results?
a.
Highest interest from HS/MS is children of faculty attending the
district; admin at all levels has expressed favorable stance on issue
b. Tuition Reimbursement: our current situation is preferable to other
districts, other districts have a district cap; leave issue on back burner.
c.
Increase PD days: already have an
extra day for Labor Day Weekend; 3 times/year is not as effective as ongoing;
want teacher driven as opposed to administrator driven; need to consider
creative means of coverage, as opposed to having the entire district released
at the same time; could be building specific design; teacher input critical.
d.
Expanding academic support for at-risk students: district-provided after school care for
identified students; supplemental? Homework club? Extra late bus? Foundation
money? Foundation is wanting to partner, seeking ideas and resources. PS meeting with interested parent.
VI. Concerns from Buildings
a. Incentive for Teacher attendance? Chronic absenteeism is a problem of
professionalism in some instances.
Should it be part of the evaluation?
We need the data to see trends.
How to share? (TM) not in favor
of evaluation element, as an organization that protects work environment for
teachers. $ Incentive from IHEPO for perfect attendance? Rebate on dues?
b. Transformation
of Administration has moved from fear of OEA retaliation to holding staff to
professional expectations.
c. Also
need administrators to not be pulled so often; need backup plan/communication
on administrative absence.
VII. Concerns/Updates
from Committees
a. May
15, next Happy Hour, Tap House Grille, Montgomery Rd.
b. MS: Faculty at Large concerned about
administrative visibility. Increased
responsibilities (SLO, PARCC, Dist. Meetings), impact accessibility.
c. MS:
Follow up interviews for Principal, 72 applicants, 3-5 for committee to meet
next week. To be announced at the Board
meeting on April 21.
d. HS: Interviews for Assistant Principal to begin.
