Sick leave accumulation for Severance Pay Comparison
SCHOOL
PAYMENT
INCENTIVE TO ACCUMULATE
Indian Hill
25% of 315 days = 78.75

The amount of severance pay due a bargaining unit member shall be calculated by multiplying the bargaining unit members’ accumulated unused sick leave (up to 315 days) by ¼ and multiplying the product by the highest daily rate of pay attained.

Forest Hills
25% of 250 days = 62.5 days
Paid for 70 days if accrued 250 days
Maximum payment which shall be made shall be ¼ of the accumulated and unused sick leave of a retiree except that employees with 250 days sick leave accumulation shall be eligible to receive 70 days of severance pay beginning with the 2011 – 2012 school year.

Kings
1/4 of accumulated days
5 – 11 years of service

1/3 of accumulated days
12 years or more of service
A teacher with a minimum of 5 years and no more than 11 years of service with the Board shall be paid for the value of his/her accrued but unused sick leave, but not to exceed ¼ of accumulated days.
A teacher with a minimum of 12 years or more of service with the Board shall be paid for the value of his/her accrued but unused sick leave, but not to exceed 1/3 of accumulated days.

Lakota
¼ of accumulated days, max = 65 days

The Board shall pay any employee, upon death or retirement, the total per diem rate for accumulated days of sick leave accredited to that employee’s account as of June 30, 2009.  Employees will also be paid the total per diem rate for ¼ of the employee’s accrued but unused sick leave credited to that employee’s account after June 30, 2009.  The maximum an employee can be paid for is 65 days.

Loveland
100% of 35 days + 25% of remaining days up to 250 days total

Severance pay will be calculated using unused accrued sick leave up to a maximum of 250 days.  The Board will pay bargaining unit members 35 days plus 25% of unused sick leave days above 35 days at the time of retirement.

Milford
25% of 230 days = 57.5 days

The number of days to be considered will be ¼ of the member’s unused but accumulated sick leave credits as of the final date of employment by the Board to a maximum of 57 ½ days.

Norwood
25% of 216 days = 54 days

The Board shall pay to any member who elects to retire from teaching and collect retirement from STRS, the per diem rate for ¼ of the member’s accumulated sick leave up to a maximum of 54 days.

Sycamore
1/3 of days

An employee may elect at the time of retirement from active service in Sycamore Community Schools to be paid in cash, for 1/3 the value of accrued but unused Ohio sick leave day credit provided all the requirements for service retirement have been met.

Wyoming
Wyoming  years x 3 days + non-Wyoming years x 1 day
The benefit will be assessed by the following formula: 
Wyoming years x 3 days + non-Wyoming years x 1 day = Days of Severance
Each day of severance pay will be calculated on the bargaining unit member’s base salary during the last year of service.
